Oscar J. Tolmas Trust's mission is to spread the legacy and generosity of Oscar J. Tolmas throughout the region by assisting local charitable organizations with their missions of helping others. A WWII Veteran, Oscar J. Tolmas was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

Children and direct descendants of those that served or are currently serving in the US Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard and Reserves are invited each fall to apply to the Oscar J. Tolmas Memorial Scholarship Fund. Eligible applicants are juniors or seniors in high school or freshman through 5th year college students that are 22 years old or younger. The selection committee makes their decisions based on academics, community service, financial need, and essay responses. The scholarships are presented to the selected applicants at the awards ceremony portion of the annual Swing Hard for Soldiers golf tournament
